After decades in increasingly senior executive positions, and coaching her staff and teams on balancing work and life, managing stress and multiple deadlines, our founder decided to more closely follow her own advice.
Stress and pressure became synonymous with her work life and her problem solving skills were highly sought after. Our Chief Chick In Charge decided to focus more time on her artistic pursuits and better balance the load to improve her mental health and stress levels.
After years of painting and drawing, she discovered the journaling community and immediately fell in love with artistic journaling, where anything goes. She sketched, drew, painted and decorated her daily pages in addition to documenting the daily happenings.
In discussions with her counsellor, she started using the journal not only to capture her artistic impulses, but also to document her daily struggles, challenges and issues and work on solutions.
Decades of stress and misunderstandings started to melt away. Triggers and emotional events started to have more clarity, and she was better able to articulate challenges. She was able to slow her thoughts down enough to actually create solutions, vs. ruminate on the issues over and over again. Which feels productive and like you’re solving a problem, but you never are.
